Inspection of a pump before delivery (inspection of rattling/noise from a pump)

As an inspection of pump or the like before delivery, visual checking by vibration meter, hearing test by stethoscopic probe and sensory test depending on human senses are popular. The VC-2100 helps to perform steady and efficient automatic inspection according to the numerical values. The VC-2100 also enables to make OK/NG determination by overall vibration values of pump as well as inspection of the wrong assembly of internal bearing.

Inspection of motor before delivery (inspection of abnormality)

The VC-2100 vibration comparator can make OK/NG determination by overall vibration value of motor as well as detecting the problem of internal bearing by specifying and taking measures of the frequency band which leads to the abnormality. The VC-2100 enables automatic inspection of products to ensure consistent quality by replacing the sensory test (especially for the hearing test) by operator.

Inspection of compressor before delivery (inspection of abnormality)

As an inspection of abnormal sound from compressor, hearing test by operator is popular. You could choose another method using sound level meter etc. because it is an inspection by sound, but it requires enough space and much cost for anechoic box in order to reduce the influence of the back ground noise. As an alternative to these methods, the inspection which is focused on the vibration is performed. Processing the band-limited frequency allows the detection of abnormal sound and automatic determination.

Inspection of chipped resin gear teeth

The above example shows how to detect the damages (deformation, flaws) to resin gear teeth and foreign objects trapped inside the audio and visual product. Inspection of nick on a gear box

As an inspection whether there is nick or not on the gear box, sensory test by operator (touching with hand, hearing the difference with stethoscopic probe) is popular. This way of inspection cannot avoid human-error and variation in quality. The determination by quantitative value is necessary in order to improve the quality and stable supply of product. The VC-3100 can detect whether there is nick or not on the product and make determination by quantitative value.

Detecting nick on a gear at the inspection before delivery

This example shows how to detect the nick on a gear using the VC-3100 vibration comparator. OK/NG determination is made by the difference of vibration values. You can take numeral control while checking the vibration sound through headphones.

Inspection of an engine before delivery (inspection of knocking and abnormal noise)

An abnormal sound inspection is one of the inspections performed before an engine is delivered. As the abnormal sound, there are versatile causes; unbalance of component parts, electrical noise or knocking phenomenon and so on. In this example, the VC-3100 enables not only detection of vibration by band pass filter and quantitative determination by level determination but also hearing check with headphones.

Detecting abnormal sound from a steering pump

As an abnormal sound when you turn a steering wheel, the noise from steering pump or the vibration of parts friction is one of the possible causes. For an inspection before delivery, the operator makes determination to hear the generated sound. This example shows how to detect the abnormal sound from vibration with the VC-3100 vibration comparator by mounting the sensor on the measurement object. The VC-3100 enables the detection of vibration which you want by band pass filter and quantitative determination by level determination.

Detecting an abnormal noise from an actuator for the door mirror

An abnormal sound from an actuator for the door mirror might be caused a deformation or missing of the resin gear teeth, grease with foreign material or motor itself. In this example, the VC-3100 vibration comparator detects the abnormality from vibration by mounting the sensor on the measurement object. The VC-3100 achieves quantitative determination than sensory test and greatly helps to improve the product in quality.

Inspection of rattling from a laundry machine

The vibration from a laundry machine greatly affects the product value. For an inspection of vibration, they use equipments such as sensor or vibration meter but the determination is made by operator with visual check. In this example, the abnormal sound is detected from vibration with the VC-2100 by mounting sensor on the measurement object (attachable/removable by using magnetic base). Moreover, the VC-0251 integrating function (option) enables direct reading of the amplitude value and automatic determination.

Inspection of a rice cooker before delivery (operation checking)

In this example, the VC-2100 vibration comparator detects the vibration by mounting a sensor on a measurement object (attachable/removable magnetic) for an operation check of pressure adjustment valve in a rice cooker. In a conventional inspection method, the operator has to listen carefully the abnormality from operated sound of pressure adjustment value. The determination by vibration value reduces the strain on ears of operator and the time for inspection process. The OK/NG determination is made by the deference of vibration value. The control by value and checking of vibration sound by headphones can be performed at the same time.

Detection of crack on a product during press working

Cracks on pressed products are usually inspected with visual checking by operators after press working. As it is an inspection after press working, once finding a defect means that there may be a dozen of NG products. Moreover, since huge volumes of visual checking waste a lot of labors and time, that might cause overlook of NG product. Therefore the VC-3100 detects abnormal vibration when cracks occur and make OK/NG determination, it improves working efficiency and prevents cracked products from being brought out to next process.

Detection of abnormal sound from a camcorder or digital camera

Abnormal sound from camcorder or digital camera might be caused from a damage of a built-in motor or foreign material, or an operation section etc. In an inspection of products before delivery, operators actually inspect abnormal sound by hearing check.
In this example, a sensor is mounted on a measurement object and the VC-3100 vibration comparator detects abnormal sound by vibration.
The VC-3100 can capture and make determination up to four kinds (standard three bands + optional one band) of abnormal phenomena (The four kinds of determinations can be made simultaneously.).

Detection of abnormal sound from a plasma display

Sound generated from internal electronic printed wiring board or speaker is one of the abnormal sounds from a plasma display. This example shows how to capture and make determination by the vibration which is transmitted from a frame. It is very important to choose suitable accelerometer depending on the loudness of signal (abnormal sound) and to detect signal (abnormal sound) assuredly through band pass filter.

Inspection of a bearing before delivery

At an inspection of bearing before delivery, scratch, foreign material and rattling from inside of bearing by bad installation are inspected.
Two VC-3100 vibration comparators catch the vibration conducted through bearing frame and make determination by using two accelerometers.
The accelerometers are mounted with being shifted at 90 degrees on a bearing. The VC-3100 can detect smaller scratch assuredly by measuring crest factor value in addition to peak and rms values. Also crest factor count function enables determination of scratch or foreign material.

Inspection of a small fan before delivery

In most of inspections of small fan before delivery, operators perform sensory tests. Inspections of rattling or abnormal sound etc. at rated speed depend on senses of operators. Recent years, shifting production to overseas requires quantitative determination for stable products in quality.
In this example, the VC-3100 and accelerometers detect rattling or abnormal sound and make level determination by mounting sensors on a fan at radial and thrust directions (magnetic attachable/removal).

Endurance test of engine

When abnormal vibration is generated during knocking test or endurance test of engine, the operation must be stopped. In particular, abnormal vibration in unattended operation or unexpected abnormality might cause serious damage of system etc. so that monitoring vibration is necessary to avoid that kind of accident. This application enables control of machinery by constantly monitoring vibration in unattended operation. For example, it brings an emergency stop of operation and outputs NG signal when abnormal vibration is generated.

Endurance test of hub unit (bearing)

An endurance test of bearing is performed by rotating it over long time under being loaded. Since most of tests are performed in unattended operation, abnormality of bearing might not be realized and it can damage the tester. In this example, the VC-3100 vibration comparator detects abnormal vibration. For a transmission, endurance test is necessary because of its hard usage. The endurance test is performed under high load over long operation. As damage of internal gear or bearing can lead to destruction of tester, abnormality must be detected to stop system urgently. Monitoring abnormal vibration during gear processing

Abnormal vibration which is generated at the time of gear processing is a main cause of NG product. Causes for generating abnormal vibration include abrasion or missing of gear teeth and abnormality in machinery itself. In this example, the VC-3100 detects and determines abnormal vibration by mounting a sensor on a measurement object. The VC-3100 can monitor abnormality in rotation of first order (rattling of processing machine) or abnormality by damage of gear teeth (high frequency band) with appropriate setup and usage of band pass filter. The VC-3100 greatly helps to reduce labor and improve product quality by prevention of NG product or its outflow as well as facilitating total inspection.

Monitoring abnormal vibration during production process of a liquid crystal cell (monitor)

Liquid crystal cell is produced with delicate work from forming polarity to injection of liquid crystal. Vibration during a production process affects on product quality. Though yield ratio greatly affects on production cost, you cannot know performance of product until you actually power it on at the time of final inspection in many cases. In this example, the VC-3100 detects and determines by monitoring vibration during production process. This application helps to prevent NG product or its outflow as well as stable production in quality.

Monitoring a sieve operation (chemical plant)

When powder is shifted through a sieve, the sieve vibrates at smaller amplitude if it is clogged. However, a sieve vibrates at larger amplitude if there is any abnormality in a way of installing equipment or motor. In this example, the VC-2100 detects and determines abnormal vibration by mounting sensor (screw fixing) on a measurement object sieve.

At semiconductor plant, abnormal vibration during carrying conveyance between processes or in-process leads to damage of wafer in the conveyance. This application including the VC-2100 monitors vibration which is generated during carrying a conveyance by mounting a sensor (magnetic attachable/removal) on a measurement object conveyance and enables control such as stopping the carrying. It also can be used for monitoring of vibration other than carrying such as detecting crack of wafer in each process.

Detection of fin-breaking in a diffuser

Diffuser is operated for 24 hours and used very hard. In particular, fin-breaking will lead to a serious accident. Detecting a cracked material during torsional testing

To evaluate tolerance of material against torsion, torsional tester is used. This example shows how to detect cracks on material by vibration. The vibration sensor is mounted (magnetic attachable/removal) on around a bearing of chuck (stationary side). The VC-3100 can make determination (simultaneous determination of four bands) by capturing up to four abnormal phenomena (standard three bands + optional one band). The difference of frequency band between vibration in rotor rotation and vibration from cracked material can be used for monitoring of vibration by using the band changeable processing function of the VC-3100.

Monitoring vibration from motor or pump

This example shows a constant monitoring of motor in equipment. The VC-3100 vibration comparator detects abnormality from vibration by mounting sensor (magnetic attachable/removal) on a measurement object. The VC-3100 can make determination (simultaneous determination of four bands) by capturing up to maximum of four abnormal phenomena (standard three bands + optional one band). Constant monitoring with the VC-3100 makes accurate determination of a time for parts replacement and contributes to save operation time. When a water-wheel, which is a heart of hydropower generation, is broken, it causes decrease in power generation efficiency as well as breakage in other parts. Early detection of abnormality and maintenance are important. As abrasion or breakage appears in abnormal vibration, monitoring vibration is an effective way to detect abnormality. The VC-3100 vibration comparator can monitor vibration periodically, detect abnormal vibration and output alarm signal. This application is helpful for predictive maintenance such as prevention of an accident.
