Measuring length of film

This application shows how to measure and calculate length of rolled film by the number of generated pulse and roll diameter from a rotary encoder. The rotary encoder is connected to a rolling shaft on a film production line. Connecting it to the PLC by using comparator output enables output of command signal to cut a film or to send an alert to a signal tower. Continuous recording can be performed via analog output signal to see fluctuation of rolling up film length. Connecting the RV-3150 to a PC via RS-232C interface enables storing the measured data and so on.

Measuring length at continual cutting line

This example shows an application of length measurement at a production line. The rotary encoder, RP-112A, is connected to a roller shaft, and measures moving distance of an object. An appropriate displaying unit can be set up on the RV-3150 Reversible Counter using operation functions of the numbers of generated pulses and roller distance. Connecting a PLC* to the RV-3150 via comparator output signal, this application can output command signal for cutting off and generate an alert to a signal tower. The measured value can be displayed on a large-sized external display unit by BCD output, stored on a PC using RS-232C interface. Moreover, continuous recording can be available on an external recording equipment via analog output.

Measuring line speed of film or paper on a production line

This application shows how to measure and calculate line speed of measurement object moving down a production line by the number of generated pulse and roll diameter from a rotary encoder. The rotary encoder is connected to a rolling shaft on a film production line. Deflection of film/paper can be prevented by keeping the line speed of two rotary encoders constant which are set at two major points on a production line.

Measurement of rolling rate and rolling reduction of steel plate

This application shows how to measure and calculate rolling rate and rolling reduction of steel plate by the number of rotational speed and roll diameter from two rotary encoders. Two rotary encoders are connected to rolling shafts before and after the rolling process of steel plate on a production line. Connecting a PLC* to the TM-5100 via comparator output signal, this application can output command signal for cutting off and generate an alert to a signal tower. Moreover, fluctuation of rolling rate and rolling reduction can be recorded continuously on external recording equipment via analog output. The measured value can be stored on a PC using RS-232C interface.
