The VE series Gap Detector is using capacitance sensor which makes possible non contact measuring, and not to damage or deformation the measurement object. Moreover, it is possible to measure the thickness of a soft object which can easily change the shape.

The VE series Gap Detector is using capacitance type sensor, so you can measure with any material and surface condition. Whether the surface condition is mirror or rough finishing, measurement is not affected by them. On the other hands, the eddy current type sensor has 2 advantages. It is relatively inexpensive and it works in an oil mist environment. However, it makes a huge difference of output characteristics depends on the material, so you need to set up each time when you change the material. Moreover, the lazar type of a trigonometric measurement displacement gauge is influenced by the unevenness in reflectance of each surface, secondary reflecting of a proximity body and back reflecting of a transparent body.
