This application shows how to measure rotation speed of a DC motor. In recent years, the more precise rotation measurement is necessary in usage of DC motors for electric vehicles.

In this application, magnetic flux leakage from a DC motor is detected by mounting the OM-1200 electromagnetic type ignition pulse detector vertically to the rotating shaft of the DC motor. And then the FT-7200 advanced handheld tachometer performs FFT calculation processing of the detected magnetic flux leakage and displays the rotation speed.

The FT-7200 provides analog output for signal and monitoring as standard. They can be used for recording the fluctuation of rotation speed by a pen-recorder or the like, and for checking the waveform signal on a monitor.
