The operation procedure to change the display unit of the TS series digital torque meter is as follows. For farther information, please refer to the instruction manual.
1. Before operation
According to the Measurement Act revision, the using unit is changed from kgf•m to N•m. Therefore, the unit which displays kgf•m cannot be sold, so we changed the specification of torque meters to correspond to the revision. (Fully completed in October, 1999)
(1) TS-3600/3100 series Digital Torque Meter
The display unit for the torque meter of kgf•m has been changed to N•m. The corresponded model names are assigned "B" to distinguish from previous unit.
Corresponded models: TS3600B, TS3100B
(2) Torque Detector
The displayed unit of kgf•m in the nameplate has been changed into N•m.

2. Setting procedure to display in kgf•m unit
Following procedure enables to display the unit in kgf•m. In addition, use the following calculate dialog box for unit conversion.
Factor Calculation
Input the Factor value of the detector with
half-width digits and press the original unit button of the
following dialog box.
The Factor calculation is as follows. Caution: "NaN" is displayed when you input with full-width digits. |
1. New model Torque detector + TS-3600B/3100B
ⅰ. Set (Factor of N• m unit) ÷0.9807= (Factor of kgf• m unit)
(Example) | When Factor of N• m unit= 8086, Factor of kgf• m = 8245 |
ⅱ. Change the value of detector capacity from N• m unit to kgf• m unit.
(Example 1) | To convert the rated 200 N• m into 20 kgf• m, change the value 200 to 20. |
(Example 2) | To convert the rated 5 N• m into 50 kgf• m, change the value 5 to 50. |
ⅲ. Change the display unit "N• m" to "–" mark.
ⅳ. Perform the ZERO correction.
2. New model torque detector + Non-corresponding TS unit (TS-3100, 3100A, 3600, 3600A, 800 and 800B)
It is same operation as the 1. Display unit of iii can be set as "N• m" to "kgf• m".
3. Previous model torque detector + TS-3600B/3100B
It is same operation as the 1. The nameplate of previous model is displayed Factor of kgf• m unit i, so set the value as it is.
4. New model torque detector + TS-2100/2600
ⅰ. (Factor of N• m unit) ÷0.9807= (Factor of kgf• m unit)
ⅱ. Set the RANGE to the value written on the nameplate. (RANGE value of N• m unit and kgf• m unit are the same.)
ⅲ. Move one point of the decimal point. (No display for TS-2100)
(Example 1) | To convert the rated 200 N• m to 20 kgf• m, change the value 200.0 to 20.00. |
(Example 2) | To convert 5 N• m to 50 kgf• m, change the value 5.000 to 50.00. |
ⅳ. Prepare the nameplate of "kgf• m" and stick it to decent place of the display.
ⅴ. Perform the ZERO correction.
