Basically roughness on an object surface does not affect the measurement. However, the measurement result will be affected by the rotating object with rough surface (gear teeth etc.).

The measurement using Laser Doppler detects the velocity component present at surface of the target. The velocity components on a surface are the same amount even there are 凸凹 on it. For this reason, roughness on an object surface does not affect the measurement in principle.

But for a rotating object with rough surface, it might not be measured because the reflection light will not return to the receiver or return with deflection. The measurement can be performed when the reflection light returns to the receiver element. (Put simply, the signal level indicator lights up.)

*For the LV-1100 or LV-1600 series, the amount of reflection light can be checked by the indicator on the main unit.
