The TH-1000 series torque detectors employ a new magnetic phase difference method with improving functionality while maintaining the advantages of Ono Sokki’s conventional torque detectors. They incorporate high durability and long service life---the biggest features of our torque detectors. The new magnetic phase difference method does not require AC power supply to an auxiliary motor for rotation detection change. TH-1000 series is a standard type torque detector with the rotation speed range up to 6000 r/min. The TH-2000 series is a high-speed rotation type which can be used for torque characteristic test of high-speed rotating motor such as an EV/HEV motor, a centrifuge machine or the like. The characteristic data of the detector can be automatically set up on the TH-5100 torque meter when power is turned on.

TH-2000/1000 series is used in combination with the TH-5100 Digital Torque Meter.

TH-5100 Digital Torque Meter
The TH-5100 torque meter is designed for exclusive use with the TH series, and can convert the phase difference signal from the TH series detectors into torque value. Rotation speed which is measured by an optional rotation detector attached to a torque detector can be displayed on the meter as well as torque value. By incorporating the TH-0510 power calculation display function (option), power output value (W) can be calculated from torque and rotation. Moreover, the TH-5100 features various types of output functions such as analog output, BCD and RS-232C, which are so helpful for data recording or data processing. Being compact in size, it takes up less space in panel mounting use.

Detection principle of the New Magnetic Phase Difference method

Illustration (Detection principle of the New Magnetic Phase Difference method)

The above drawing shows the interior structure of a torque detector. It is configured with a rotating shaft, phase difference plates where a drive coil and detection coils are located face to face. A magnetic signal that flows from the excited drive coil to the phase difference plates is converted into an electric signal by the two detection coils. When torque is applied to a rotating shaft, the rotation torque is twisted. Change of torsion angle appears as a phase difference of magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit. The magnetic signal is converted into voltage signals by the two detection coils and amplifier while the drive coil is excited. And then, the TH-5100 torque meter calculates the torque value from the phase difference.

TH-0511 High-speed analog output function

Overview The TH-0511 improves the response ability and the filter function of the TH-5100.
The time constant of analog output can be selected up to 0.16 ms (additional three choices: 0.16/0.4/0.8).

It makes it possible to measure torque ripple in high-speed rotation and see the relation of input current and output torque of the motor.
The new digital low-pass filter enables extraction of torque fluctuation signals accurately, which makes damping rotation torsional resonance of a sensor and an object so much. The frequency of the filter setup is selectable from 50 Hz to 5 kHz (five choices: 50/100/500/1k/5k) depending on your application.

This optional function can make a measurement of rotating speed closer to the actual status and greatly helps improvement of motor performance and efficiency in R&D, or delivery inspection.
Specification

The followings are added to the setup menu of the time constant of analog output.

Output time constant: 0.16/0.4/0.8 [ms]
Digital low pass filter: 50/100/500/1k/5k [Hz]
