An abnormal sound from an actuator for the
door mirror might be caused a deformation or missing of
the resin gear teeth, grease with foreign material or
motor itself. There are several ways to inspect them
before delivery such as hearing test by operator or
frequency analysis using FFT analyzer. The former has a
problem of varying in quality because the test depends on
the human sense. On the other hand, the latter is
expensive to prepare the system. In this example, the
VC-3200 vibration comparator detects the abnormality
from vibration by mounting the sensor on the measurement
object. The VC-3200 achieves quantitative judgment
than sensory test and greatly helps to improve the
product in quality. Also the system can be assembled
with low cost and helps to lead expansion of production
line.

The VC-3200 can be setup three kinds of
frequency band and make Pass/Fail judgment of each band
based on the rms, peak or power averaging calculated
value (same for all bands). Also it
has comparator delay time setting functions and auto
operation function. The comparator delay time setting
function removes the unwanted signal at the time of
starting measurement and the auto operation function can
control the timing of judgment by inputting a
control signal from external device such as PLC*.
Although the VC-3200 can be operated by 24VDC (22 to
26VDC) as standard, you have an alternative to use it at
100 VAC by connecting the optional AC/DC convertor
VC-0352.

Connecting the VC-3200 to a PC via RS-232C
interface enables storing the measured data and so on.

By connecting a pair of commercially sold
headphones to the VC-3200, it is possible to make
hearing check of the vibrating sound. Moreover, it can
be used instead of conventional stethoscopic probe.
Output signals are provided for each band, enabling an
observation for vibration phenomenon on each frequency
band.
