The RP-1700 series Rotary Encoder is provided with COM and F.G. as a common terminal.

Grounding F.G. is effective for the following;

• The prevention of noise emitted from the rotary encoder
• The prevention of external noise entering the rotary encoder

Therefore, grounding F.G. could enable a stabilized operation of the rotary encoder and may decrease any influence to external devices.
