This application shows how to measure and
calculate rolling rate and rolling reduction of steel
plate by the number of rotational speed and roll
diameter from two rotary encoders. Two rotary encoders
are connected to rolling shafts before and after the
rolling process of steel plate on a production line.

The TM-4270 Digital Tachometer can compensate the number of generated
pulses and role diameters of rotary encoders to input
appropriate values.

Connecting a PLC* to the TM-4270 via
comparator output signal, this application can output
command signal for cutting off and generate an alert to
a signal tower.

Moreover, fluctuation of rolling rate and
rolling reduction can be recorded continuously on
external recording equipment via analog output.

The measured value can be stored on a PC
using RS-232C interface.
