Sampling means to transform time-varying analog signal into digital signal in certain interval using A/D convertor. The time interval is called sampling interval (sampling period). And the reciprocal of the sampling interval is called sampling frequency, which means the speed of taking in data. More specifically, it means how many times ("frequency") the input analog signals are sampled per second.
